Youth and Frivolity

All right, I have to begin by addressing my state of being this lovely Sunday morning:  I'm not 100% sober and wouldn't trust myself to drive across the bridge for breakfast.  That damn bridge, it seriously puts a limit on your night.

Any who, what a day yesterday!  My two friends and I intended on kayaking in the morning but we didnt really plan ahead and long story short, we were unable to kayak:(  Sad bananas.  This being Newport though, we quickly regrouped and headed to where? Guess, I dare you.  That's right, the beach!  Actually we were in Depoe Bay and did a bit of whale watching (no, we are not 45 and form the Valley) and it was spectacular.  Julia led us to some excellent rocks where we could be isolated from the annoying humans and have the best view of said whales.  We saw a few Gray whale flukes and squealed away as the mist from the crashing waves hovered around us.  Good start to the day.

I also set a new PR for me yesterday, not in terms of quantity of alcohol consumed, but in overall time spent in drinking establishments.  I headed to Hoover's around 1:15 to catch the Huskies WIN their first game since November 2007.  Highlights of this trip to Hoovers include: Woman bathing in the restroom; drunk patron talk about how he sleeps with the bartender; previously mentioned patron bought me my 2nd Mirror Pond; and oh yes, HUSKY VICTORY!  So somehow, I ended up back at Hoover's to watch the OSU USC game with some of my peeps and although I could tell you the final score, I couldn't tell you one highlight of the game (except for those adorable boys in sweater vests that spelled out Tressel).

To cap off the night the peeps and I headed to the Rogue for a quick Hazelnut Brown Ale and then went to the club of all clubs, Apollo's.  I swear to you, you have never been to any place like Apollo's.  I'm talking 57 year old fisherman dancing to Lady Gaga and my friend Evan wearing an Australian pilot jumpsuit with cut off arms and a tie.  It was a glorious night of youth and frivolity.

Now, it is time to stumble into work and explain to my boss why I might not be able to count up to 10...
