Speaking of bar stories, I have a few, but I will slowly unfold them over the next few weeks. Let me start with this one though. Last week at Hoover's I met a man who is a 10-year brain cancer survivor. He had been living on a boat next to a friend of mine in the nearby marina. My friend hadn't seen this man, D-, in 6 months; thought he had died. Needless to say it was a happy reunion. I played a game of pool with D- and sipped my PBR as he told me his life story. In quick summary we had nothing in common: his first wife's parents gave him is first taste of meth, he has 3 kids with 3 different women, has come back from 25% heart function to 70%, and sells medical marijuana by the pound. Every 6 months the doctors tell D- he only has 6 more months. What are you supposed to do with that? D- likes to drink rum and cokes and build computers. He's not a bad pool player either.
Now that I've completely turned you off from my stories of the Central Oregon Coast let me tell you it was a lovely day here and I ditched work 45min early (boss headed to Valley in the morning) and played a sweat breaking game of tennis with my roommate Jennifer. She killed me with her serve and I made her run the baseline a few times to try to get the edge.
In larval news, our final 6-day Urchin feeding trial is going well and will be finished on Thursday. Currently in jar counts we have 20 mussels, 3 crabs, 2 nudibranchs, and 2 urchins. At 7min/jar to clean that's about 3hrs 10min without breaks every other day to maintain. Did I mention we clean in a 9C cold room? Brrrrrrrr.
