This morning was one of those mornings that Newport was made for. I didn't need to be in to work until 11:30 so instead of sleeping in and dreaming of what will never be, I got up and hit the beach. Nothing too exciting except for the endless movement of force and power. And the three most adorable pups that attacked me whilst I was walking the sands.
Post walk I grabbed an apricot cream-cheese pastry from Panini's and finally took pictures of some things in Newport that needed to be documented by me. The most important of which are the many signs welcoming NOAA to Newport. In case you haven't heard NOAA has selected Newport as the site of its ship base in 2011. Wait, what year was that? 2011? Yeah that's right, and we are already welcoming them! 4 times over actually!
People have asked me what I think this will do for Newport and honestly, I don't know other than it will throw this town upside down. The most hated months here are June, July, and August for obvious reasons (tourists make it a bitch to turn left on to 101) and I think this new addition will turn summertime congestion into a year round thing. But, hello jobs! Maybe an expansion of Panini's?!!! Time will only tell.
